Dry Needling

A therapeutic technique that uses thin, sterile needles that can help relieve pain and improve mobility.

Service Description

Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used by chiropractors and other healthcare professionals to relieve pain and restore function by targeting specific areas of muscle tension or dysfunction. These areas of tension are often the result of muscle overuse, injury, stress, or underlying musculoskeletal conditions, and can contribute to chronic pain, stiffness, and limited mobility.

During a dry needling session, a practitioner inserts very fine, sterile needles directly into the target tissue. The insertion of the needle may cause a local twitch response—a brief, involuntary contraction of the muscle—which helps to release tension, reduce pain, and reset the muscle to a more relaxed state. This process also increases blood flow to the affected area, enhances oxygen delivery, and promotes the body’s natural healing response by encouraging tissue repair.

Dry needling is typically implemented as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that may include chiropractic adjustments, manual therapy, stretching, and rehabilitative exercises. It is especially effective for patients dealing with conditions such as back and neck pain, tension headaches, joint dysfunction, sports injuries, and postural imbalances. While some patients experience immediate relief, others may notice progressive improvement over a series of treatments.
